the weekend before last, i took a last minute trip with my mom to my great aunt’s funeral. i was so happy to spend a weekend of quality time with my mama and i was so glad she got to make it to her aunt’s funeral (it was a last minute thing that she proposed we go). we left friday, stopped in orlando for a little shopping (the temple was closed?) then on to jupiter to see my pappy. he’s doing pretty good for a 96 year old, but it’s still bitter sweet to see him in a nursing home. we watched golf, talked about how there are so many women on the tv these days, and admired his life-size head shot of FDR. he still has some of his handmade signs around the room too, on the ac unit he’d posted, “DON’T TOUCH. I LIVE HERE.” gotta love him.

we stayed the night in jupiter and had some yummy thai food and snacks in bed before passing out. we stopped in at pappy’s a couple more times the next day and visited jupiter beach on the way to the funeral too in our drab dresses. a girl asked us as we were walking up if we were there for the wedding. ha nope we’re going to the opposite of that. the funeral was nice, a standard mass except the priest had a great african accent and he liked to call people out during his sermon, kept everyone on their toes for sure.
we left jupiter and headed for tampa to have dinner with evan and karley and play with b then on to todd and sarah’s to spend the night and play with their kiddos. i got to meet little baby jacob for the first time. he’s such a doll. seriously an amazing baby and so alert, it’s nuts!
it was a great trip! now i want a new car since that new rental was so nice to drive!

That beach looks sooo pretty! Love those rocks. I’m so glad you got to take a trip with your mama. One on one time is so precious. And thats when all the secrets come out….ha, maybe you don’t pick your mom’s brain for secrets when you get her alone. Maybe thats why my mom avoids me…j/k :)
But seriously, welcome back to the world of blogging. It’s good to read your posts.
I wanna go there! So pretty. Also, as I was scrolling down, I just glanced at the picture of Jacob and for a second I thought it was Nathaniel. I had to do a double-take. Haha. Bad mom…
So glad you got to spend the weekend with mom and come visit us! We loved getting to spend time with you!
What a fun spontaneous (kind of) tour of coast to coast of Florida! It looked like you had beautiful weather the whole time. Yes, the temple was closed from January 1-9th for maintance so you just missed it. Sorry… that’s no fun. But at least you did a little shopping in Orlando which is ALWAYS fun. =) I have never been to Jupiter but it looks amazing!
I love that picture of you and your mom!
